Forums

The old forum setup was pretty useless. Not only where there not enough forums, there was no way to create a nested set of categories. Now ListDC forums really are the best. All topic are visible from the root level so it's easy to see what was posted since your last visit. Navigating to a subcategory filters out the irreverent but doesn't hide topics that are in nested subcategories. This is so cool I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Changes to access control include allowing anonymous users to post in topics. Creating topics still requires an account that has been activated via email.

There is now a spellchecker in the text editor. It's the little ABC button with the check-mark. I also added emoticons Smile, an image linker, some more tag and style selectors, a preview screen, and a raw HTML editor - all this thanks to the excellent and extensible Moxicode TinyMCE code. These changes to the editor also apply when creating ads, jobs, and events.

Listings

Anonymous users may now post ads, jobs, and events by supplying an email address and agreeing to terms of service with each post. User accounts provide logged-in users streamlined access with less captcha challenges and the ability to publish listings without checking their email in-box.

Internal Improvements

There were issues with HTML getting escaped, or not, and this was causing some visual rifts on ListDC. The code has been revamped to fix this. I have added a Paste from Word button to the editor to help clean some of this up on the input side as well. Please use it whenever you need to paste from Word. A better option is to paste plain text and then style it with this editors tools. Our philosophy is to create better tools according to your needs.
